When I crawled into bed last night, it was the early hours of a new day for America. When I opened the door to the black night, I could see fog had shrouded the lake, obscuring the lights on the other side. It’s been that way all day. Just sit, just sit.
Just Sit
BY JOAN CASEY
Turn off the t.v.
Unplug the phone
Sit with
Anger
Fear
Grief
Enough anger to ignite
Internecine wars
Grief to float 1,000 ships
And fear
My traveling companion
My ever-present friend.
Sit until the arrows of hatred
Morph into petals of
Flowers
Falling from heaven
Fresh with dew
Gathered from tears.
Falling as blessings
On friend and foe alike
‘Til fear has no place to hide.
